Tool workshop/ Understanding the Uninterested / ALTOS 4
This lively session will take a light-hearted look at some uncomfortable truths behind the gap between what museums want to achieve and what audiences really want. Jim will show a personal selection of cultural projects that demonstrate unexpected successes and spectacular failures in really connecting with – or having really mystified – their audiences, before introducing some key principles for creating truly relatable experiences.
Participants will then be invited to put these into practice by working in teams where they take on the roles of curator, designer and interpretive planner in order to come up with creative ideas to address a real challenge related to the Chaos at the Museum conference.
At the end of the session teams will be asked to share these ideas with each other and to vote on the ‘least uninteresting’!
