Tool workshop/ (Extra) Ordinary Tools Workshop by The Decorators / ALTOS 2
Working at a hyper local scale, this workshop will provide and test research tools to reveal the (extra) ordinary within reach of Museo de la Ciudad. We will use the discoveries to collectively reimagine new touch points between this local institution and its surroundings.
As museums continue to rethink their role within a shifting social and political landscape, opportunities open up to consider new uses for the museum within the neighbourhood.
What if ‘the museum’ became a place of exchange rather than one of immutable knowledge? In this workshop we will consider how the museum can become a player within the everyday network of interactions of its immediate context. By getting to know the museum surroundings more intimately we will aim to devise ways of bringing down the museum walls and redrawing its boundaries.
Come prepared for an express immersion in the museum’s neighbourhood and to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
