Tool workshop / Discussing words: Collaboration for a collective glossary / ALTOS 3

The workshop will function as a methodological tool to rethink, question and redefine the vocabulary that we use when describing ‘museums’, ‘community’ and ‘audience’. Working as a group, we will think about what, exactly, it is that we want to say when we use words such as ‘territory’, ‘community’, ‘citizenship’ and ‘public’ and broaden our understanding and vocabulary for when we talk about our own fields of work. The first part will consist in thinking about our practical work, questioning any doubts we have, what is taboo, what works (and equally, what does not), the unknown and that which we wish to give a new meaning to. We will do this using the concept of ‘listening closely’. For the second part, we will choose a combination of words in order to compose a collective glossary. We will work on this considering the notions of ‘confidence’ and ‘risk’. The third part will consist of thinking of definitions for these words. We will work with their multiple dimensions, searching for definitions in our questions, our doubts, and that which we still do not know.
