Presentation “How can public space be used for the sciences”

The social and urban transformation of MedellĂn in the last few years is a global example of the mixture between social urbanism, community management, education and culture to reach a goal of equity and coexistence. Parque Explora expresses this transformation: it is a permanent laboratory in which we can create memorable learning experiences involving public space, where citizens find opportunities for experimentation and for artistic and scientific joy; and where they can come together and give new meanings to their creations.
Natural sciences phenomena in the public space, outdoors exhibitions, open stage events, science investigations carried by citizens in the fields of environment care, astronomy, mobility, among others: these are just some of the cases in which going out to the streets can be an opportunity to provoke new ways of interaction and conversation.
